With proper backwashing, your system can last over a million gallons for a family of 4 for 10 years! The first filter tank will last indefinitely. The 2nd & 3rd tanks have repack kits for lifetime use. Backwash frequency depends on your water quality.

You will Need Chlorine Pre-treatment if you have
- Bacteria, e.g. iron bacteria sulphur bacteria, E. Coli, coliform
- Iron and/or sulphur level over 3 parts ppm
- Chlorine also removes tannins, mold, mildew & algae.
Note: Some of the above materials may coat filter media, stopping its catalytic action because no contact is actually made with its surface. Chlorine is needed to keep the filter media clean. This media itself will remove the Chlorine and keep it out of your water. All you need for Chlorine is inexpensive household bleach. Average use about 1 gallon per month.
